Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a mixed race British-Nigerian child was born into a family in South London. She has a father who is Nigerian as well as Swiss, while her mother is English. She was born on the south London Council Estate, and then attended The Brit School aged 14. She was a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in which she earned a BA in acting. While attending the school, she was a part-time actor in several stage productions such as The King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started her acting career with a film titled Storm Damage. Since then, she has appeared on Teachers, Doctors Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's breakout came with 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. It was opposite Colin Farrell (who played the part of Cassandra) and Ewan McGrath. In the following film, she appeared in Elisha, the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In her role, she also played Ollie in the six episodes in the series Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. She was Bambi in The ITV2 series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was a part of the comedic How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). She also appeared on the screen in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path written directed by David Watson.
Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 with the drama The Beautiful Life. The show aired just two episodes before it was ended on The CW. In February of 2011, she was cast in the role of Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Following her appearance as a regular on the first two seasons, the show was announced late May 2013 that Madekwe would leave the show after a guest appearance in the first episode from the 3rd season. On the show Salem the actress played Tituba from 2014 until the year 2016. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They've worked together in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl and he also played a part with her on the TV series Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty and four older brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley's four brothers, who were all extremely active, took part in hockey during the winters and baseball in the summer, so they grew up mostly in parks and arenas. Ashley did not walk; instead, she would dance. When she was two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley was addicted to dance from that moment. Until she graduated from high school, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical, and hip hop. Ashley won the best soloist award at every major dance event, such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among the few.
